The former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, has submitted a compiled list of victims of recent violence that followed the EndSARS protest which affected many parts of the country.

He submitted the list to the Speaker, House of Representatives at his office on Friday.

Speaking, the former governor said the compilation was borne out of concern by the alarming rate of killings and destruction of property during the violence.

“Some concerned organisations led by the “Bafarawa Foundation” recognise the need to act and collaborate towards finding assistance for victims.

“Inspired by your concern and motivated by your proactive position on this subject, we have engaged ourselves in sourcing, organising and compiling information on human and material losses and injuries across the nation.

“Our data work will cover the entire length and breadth of this country and is aimed at assisting victims irrespective of geographical location, economic circumstances, origin, ethnic, religious or other backgrounds.

“This is a painstaking effort which is, fortunately, yielding positive results and response. We have with us today the first portion of what has been compiled regarding victims of conflict and locations from several parts of the country,” he said.

Responding, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, lauded the former governor, Bafarawa, the man who he said tried to compile difficult information on those who have experienced hardship or loss of family members and property.

He promised to look into the needs of the Bafarawa Foundation and those involved in advocacy to take appropriate action.
