PDP Accepts Defeat In Bauchi Saturday’s Bye-Election Into Dass Seat

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has enjoyed PDP members and supporters to accept the defeat of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at the just concluded State Assembly Dass Bye-election with dignity and sportsmanship.

The governor in a press statement signed by his SSA on Media, Mukhtar Gidado described the lost of the PDP as a party in the election as A will of God, and encouraged party faithful not to be divided by the temporary setback.

Governor Bala who observed that the loss is a lesson for all, noted that as warriors, both his government and PDP need to plan to regain their lost ground with chivalry, tactics and team work, saying "All praise and adoration belong to Allah, the loss of our party is a lesson for all of us, but no one is to be blame."

He said, "Remember we lost 21 House of Assembly seats and 3 Senate seats in 2019 but Allah gave us victory in the gubernatorial election. Let us not play to the gallery by indulging in blame game, internal rancor, accusations and mistrust."

Bala, according to the statement, appreciated all the dogged PDP members for their support and contributions towards ensuring the success of his administration.

It could be recalled that candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) Hon Bala Ali Lukshi won the Dass State Constituency bye-election held Saturday in Dass Local Government Area of the state.

Hon. Bala Ali Lukshi scored the highest number of 12299 votes to defeat his close rival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Hon Lawal Bala Wundi who got 11065 votes.

Declaring the results Saturday in Dass, the Returning Officers in-charge of the election, Professor Ahmed Mohammed declared Ali Lukshi of APC winner having fulfill the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes in the election.
