NUJ FCT Press Week: Ortom To Deliver Lecture On ‘Insecurity In Nigeria’ — Africa Daily News

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Correspondents’ Chapel will on Thursday, 15th April, 2021 hold its annual Press Week/Lecture with the Theme: “Insecurity in Nigeria: Restoring Peace, Unity and Progress”

In a statement jointly signed by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Philip Nyam and  Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle and made available to journalists on Sunday  in Abuja said the lecture would be delivered by the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Chief Samuel Ortom.

The event will hold at  NUJ, FCT Council Secretariat, Plot 4 Cadastral Zone Bo5,  Ekukinam Street Utako, near ABC Transport by 10:00am.

The Chairman of the occasion was Senator Ali Ndume, former Senate Leader and Chairman, Senate Committee on Army while renowned lawyer and Managing Partner, Castle of Law and Chairman, Egalitarian Mission Africa, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo and Executive Director, CISLAC/Head of Transparency International (Nigeria), Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani would be the discussants.

The statement noted that the lecture was aimed at proffering workable solutions to the growing security challenges confronting the country and this forms part of the Chapel’s contribution to national discourse.

“Considering the significant and remarkable role of media in the society, we will continue to lend our voice on issues that affect Nigerians and threaten our national unity”, the statement stated.

The Press Week will be declared opened by the Chairman, NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche.
 
As part of the activities lined up for the Press Week, there will be a ‘Health Talk and Free Medical Check Up’ by a team of experts from EHA Clinics on Wednesday, April 14th by 10:00am at  the same venue.

The union said this would avail  members the opportunity of quality, comprehensive and integrated healthcare services of the clinic with a view to early detection of potentially life-threatening health conditions or diseases.

Also the Correspondents’ Chapels FC would play a friendly football match against the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Team at Area 10 Old Parade Ground at 9am on Saturday, 17th April, 2021,
