He explained that the purpose was to imbibe the trainees with modern methods of agricultural production, adding that the practical aspect of the training would be based on cattle and sheep fattening.

“This is a scheme developed from our national head office and it entails training unemployed youths from dropouts up to tertiary level. It is aimed at making them imbibe modern methods of agricultural production. We are going to train them on animal and crop production”.

DG stated, “This training is going to last for a period of three months and the first two weeks will be used for theory, while two and a half months will be used for practical. We have 100 beneficiaries on the ground who were fairly selected across the 20 local government areas of the state,”

Fikpo also revealed that those who were serious and punctual during the training would be selected and assisted with a loan so as to establish their fattening business.

He stressed that those who might not be lucky to be resettled by NDE, would still be given certificates that would help them to approach the Bank of Agriculture or NIRSAL microfinance bank for financial backup.

Also Aliyu Lawan Yaya, said that the Directorate under its Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS), had selected 40 unemployed youths to be engaged on environmental beautification training exercises for three months.

He said the beneficiaries would be effectively engaged in landscaping, interlocking and Plaster of Paris (POP), stressing “Mostly, we engage them into environmental beautification. Two individuals were selected from the 20 local government areas in the state”.

“They would be given the sum of N6,000 as transport for the said period of time, in order to ensure easy transportation from their various residences to their places of training,” he concluded.
