"My Policies in ICT Sector has helped the Growth of the Nigerian Economy" - Isa Pantami

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami says the Nigerian Economy has been greatly boosted by the ICT sector through his policies.

Isa Pantami showed delight after the National Bureau of Statistics Q1 reported that the Information and Communication Technology sector contributed 6,47 per cent to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product in the first quarter of 2021.

In a statement issued by Femi Adeluyi, IT Technical Assistant to the Minister in Abuja, Isa Pantami boasted that the ICT sector has continued to work as the catalyst for the diversification of our economy and growth.

According to Isa Pantimai, the oil sector contributed a total of 9.25 per cent of aggregate real GDP in Q1 2021, whereas the non-oil sector accounted for 90.75 per cent.

He went ahead to boast that what mainly boosted the non-oil sector is the ICT sector due to his unique policies.

"It is worthy of note that the ICT sector grew by 6.47 per cent in Q1 2021, making it the fastest-growing significant sector of the Nigerian economy,” Isa Pantami said.

He listed some of his policies that have really boosted the nation's economy as follows; Revised National Digital Identity Policy for SIM Card Registration, National Digital Economy Policy for a Digital Nigeria and the Nigerian National Broadband Plan.
