Youths in Bauchi have commenced three-month apprenticeship training on environmental Beautification under the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
The training coming under the directorate’s Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS), will have the youths trained on Plaster of Paris (POP) Interlocking and Flowering through apprenticeship scheme with monthly stipend and take off grant after the training.
Bauchi State Coordinator of the NDE, Aliyu Lawan Yaya, said the program which is under the auspices of the Special Public Works Department of the Directorate was designed to mitigate the issue of unemployment among youths in the state.
The Director-General of the Directorate, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo had earlier during an orientation program for the beneficiaries, said that 40 youths were selected 2 from each of the twenty Local Government Areas of the state, which training commenced from 5th May to 5th July, 2021.
According to the DG, NDE will provide take off grants of cash components for each trade to empower them after the training.
He said the beneficiaries would be effectively engaged in landscaping, interlocking and Plaster of Paris (POP), stressing “Mostly, we engage them into environmental beautification. Two individuals were selected from the 20 local government areas in the state”.
“They would be given the sum of N6,000 as transport for the said period of time, in order to ensure easy transportation from their various residences to their places of training,” he concluded.
He explained that the training is designed to upgrade the trainees’ knowledge of basic skills acquired, as they would be presented certificates, as access to startup loans upon completion of the training.
Yaya urges the trainees to take the training seriously and make themselves self-employed at the end of the three months training.
