Fifty Bauchi under graduates’ youths are being trained on ‘Start Your Own Business’ (SYOB) under the Small Scale Enterprises (SYOB) programme of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).

The Director General of the Directorate, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who gave hints of training, said that the programme is geared to make beneficiaries self-employed.

At the opening ceremony marking the commencement of the training in Bauchi, the DG explained that participants were selected from the twenty Local Government Areas of the state.

The DG who was represented by Bauchi state coordinator of the directorate, Alhaji Aliyu Lawan Yaya, attributed the initiation of the programme to the concern the directorate has on the growing number of unemployed in the country that include graduates of tertiary institutions.

He said, “We are optimistic that the programme would go a long way in putting participants on the right pedestals of becoming self-employed and even employers of labour. We urge participants to be attentive to the course contents to maximally benefits from them”.

Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo disclosed that a total of 1,850 beneficiaries were simultaneously involved in the training in all the 36 states of the federation including Abuja.

He explained that the training would also facilitate getting loans for the participants from financial institutions and other corporate organizations to become self-employed, adding that certificates would similarly be given to them after the training.

Fikpo drew the attention of participants to the need to embrace the programme, as the directorate is ready to develop suitable trainings with a view to curb the unemployment trend in the country.
