"No One Can Accuse Me of Stealing and Corruption" — President Buhari

The President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has stated in a statement confronting the issue of Nigerians saying that the problem as perceived by many isn't the issue of Ethnicity or Religion, rather it is Nigerians themselves in their capacity as citizens. The president noted that Nigerians should be the ones to be blamed for the constant injustices and rather than blaming ethnicity as many often do or blame religion as noted by others, the president has stated that the problem is Nigerians.

In a press release by Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the president had stated while he received members of the Muhammadu Buhari/Osinbajo Dynamic Support Group, who visited State House, Abuja, to present a compendium of five years achievements of the administration.

The President while addressing those present at the event, claimed that the country's "problem is not ethnicity or religion, it is ourselves. After my third appearance in the Supreme Court, I came out to speak to those who were present then. I told them that from 2003, I’d spent 30 months in court."

He explained his close relationship with the president of the Court of appeal, and the first port of call for representation by presidential candidates then, Justice Umaru Abdullahi stating that they had been classmates in secondary school in Katsina, where they spent six years in the same class.

He also stated that his legal head, the person of Chief Mike Ahamba is a Roman Catholic and an "Ibo Man". The president claimed that when he was asked to present his first witness in the box, he presented his first witness.

“Ahamba insisted that a letter should be sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to present the register of constituencies in some of the States, to prove that what they announced was falsehood. It was documented," the president stated.

The president in his statement mentioned that after the judgment was given, another Ibo man, the person of late Justice Nsofor, asked the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC for its reaction to the letter that was sent to them. However, they dismissed it, which then provoked him to write another, a minority judgment that was 27 months in court.

He explained that after these long processes, he and his team proceeded to the Supreme Court, and the Chief Justice of Nigeria also happened to be a Hausa/Fulani man like himself, from Zaria. "The members of the panel went in for about 30 minutes, came back to say they were proceeding on break. They went for 3 months. When they came back, it didn’t take them 15 minutes, they dismissed us," the president added.

He also stated that the Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2007, also happened to have been a Muslim from the North, which after 8 months, he still went ahead to dismiss their case. He continued saying, the case was also brought before Mustafa, a Fulani like himself from Jigawa, neighbor to his state, and he still went ahead to dismiss the case, not minding the relationship that was supposed to exist.

“I’ve taken you round this to prove that our problem is not ethnicity or religion. It is ourselves," The president stated.

The president in his address boasted of his 6 years in governance, stating that no one could" accuse Jim of stealing and Corruption. "

The President boasted that in all the six years of his governance, "nobody could accuse him personally of stealing and corruption."

The President then boasted of his ability to adapt, claiming that he shifted his sight, and continued despite adversity. In his words, “I refused to give up. I had tried to wear Agbada after what happened to me in Khaki. Something was done to me because I did something to others. You know it. In the end, I myself was arrested, sent to detention, and they were given back what they had taken. I was there for three and a quarter years. This is Nigeria"

"Thank God that over the years, they can’t accuse me of corruption. And I’ve been everything; Governor, Minister of Petroleum Resources, Head of State, President, and in my second term," he mentioned as he drew the curtain to his address.
