I Didn't Authorize Any Group To Forcefully Barb Youth In Keffi, Charge N500 — Keffi Emir

Emir Of Keffi Local Government, HRH Dr, Shehu Chindo Yamusa

The Emir of Keffi, HRH Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa has described as Illegal and uncivilized the forceful cut of hairs deemed 'immoral and unkempt' by a group suspected to be members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in his domain.

Emir Chindo disclosed this in a telephone chat with MetroDaily, distancing himself and the Emirate Council from the activities of the group.

The first class monarch warns that anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law.

“I am too advanced, experienced and as one who have had a wide range of travel exposure, a directive as that which is but purely a private affair of individual shouldn’t be my worries,” he said.

“So i speak with you, I do not know them, I have not in any way been concern about how one chooses to live his life, since it does not go contrary with our drive for peace and security in Keffi.

“And with this information, we will not waved it away and if any of such person is caught we will not take it lightly, as they are illegally operating.”

Similarly, the Vigilante Group has dissociated from the illegal activities.

The group who parades themselves as barbing guard claimed to have the authority of the Emirate to barb hairs or haircut deemed 'immoral and unkempt'.

An eyewitness said members of the group stationed themselves in some strategic locations arresting and barbing defaulters.

“A defaulter must pay a fee of N500 after service for his release.

“Throughout last week, that was what we witnessed in Keffi and they claimed that they are doing so with the instruction and directive from the emir’s palace,” the eyewitness added.
