The Yusuf Maitama Tuggar Foundation has distributed skills materials and equipment to 500 orphans and vulnerable people in Bauchi state to enable them to become self-reliance.
Distributing the palliative materials in Bauchi yesterday, the Director-General of the Foundation, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Tukura said the gesture is to get capital incentives acquired by The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to the beneficiaries to run their petty businesses.
“Beneficiaries of this gesture who are orphans and vulnerable were carefully selected from the twenty Local Government Areas of the state. The set objective of this foundation is to provide charity to the needy in the society taking into cognizance the nation’s economic lassitude.
Tukura drew the attention of the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the succor provided to them, and warned against selling the materials and equipment for self-aggrandizement.
“We are urging you to make the best use of the materials for their benefits of themselves and their families, as whoever sells his or hers would only make use of the money at once, but through skill acquisition one can assist others and even employ them thereby reducing the unemployment gaps.
Alhaji Bello Tukura then urged others who are yet to benefit from the gesture to exercise patience as more philanthropic materials and equipment would be coming along the way through the efforts of the foundation for onward distribution to them to fend for a living.
Items distributed during the colourful event included sewing and grinding machines, Work Master Welding Machines, Hair Clippers with Bag and Complete accessories, Power Generators, Tricycle (Keke-NAPEP) and Water Surface Pumping Machines, as well as foodstuff.
Some of the beneficiaries explained that this is not the first time they were receiving humanitarian gestures from the foundation, assuring that they would make the best use of what were provided to them for self-reliance.
Aisha Muhammad from Ningi LGA told the press, “I got a grinding machine and I would go to use it for the benefit of self and my husband towards the up-bringing of our children. I want to use this opportunity to appeal to those in the habit of selling such palliative to kindly stop from doing so because the action is retrogressive and unpatriotic”.
Danlami Hussaini from Itas/Gadau LGA said, “Weare grateful to the Ambassador Tuggar Foundation for its humanitarian gesture at this crucial period of economic meltdown. I got hair clippers with bag and complete accessories and this is a motivation for me to fend for a living and to probably become self-reliant”.
“We are grateful for putting on sound footing to acquire skills instead of assisting us with money which can be packed up in a day, but I can now acquire skill for my livelihood”.
“I’m very confident that the initiator of this foundation, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Tuggar would heed to the calls from various quarters across the state for him to join the gubernatorial race come 2023 general elections”, Hussaini remarked.
