Bauchi state Police command has arrested one Danladi Ibrahim, 33 year old for allegedly raping an 10 year old girl in Nasaru village of Ningi local government area of Bauchi state.
In a press statement issued on Friday by Police Public Relation Officer, Bauchi state Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said that the suspect used force to rape the girl after he gives her toxicant lemo.
He said, “On the 25th May, 2023 one Abubakar Garba Yahuza of Nasaru village Ningi local government area of Bauchi State, reported at Divisional Headquarters Ningi that on the same date at one Danladi Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 33yrs of Nasaru village, Ningi LGA deceitfully give a lemon drink to his daughter one Nadiya aged 10yrs old suspected to be mixed with toxicant which led her to an unconscious condition."
According to police the suspect forcefully had carnal knowledge of her therein, as a result the victim sustained serious internal injuries in her private part and bleeding.
Ahmed further said on receipt of the report, the team of detectives led by the DPO swiftly rushed to the scene took the victim to general hospital Ningi for immediate medical attention, later referred the victim to National Obstetrics Fistula Center (NOFIC) Ningi, Ningi LGA, Bauchi State, thereafter referred her to Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State for further medical attention.
However, said the Command has since vowed to get to the root of the matter and ensure that the erring culprits of the incident were brought to book to serve as a deterrence of future occurrence the suspect Danladi Ibrahim was arrested, "During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to have committed the crime."
He said the police investigation is ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
“The General public will be updated as the investigation unfolds, the command will like to use this medium to reiterate the need for parents and guardians to maintain strict vigilance of the activities of their wards. It is pertinent now more than ever that the whereabouts of wards and the company they keep are constantly kept in check by all those responsible,” Wakil said.
