A Nigeria’s leading civil construction company, Lubrik Construction Company, LCC, has partnered with the Nigerian Army for the construction of a world-class Polo House at the Army Guards Polo Club in Abuja.
Performing the brick laying ceremony on Saturday, during the ongoing Nigerian National Polo Tournament in Abuja, the LCC Chairman, Nasiru Dano, said the construction of the multi-million Naira facility was borne out of the transformational leadership style of the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai.
According to him, the project, which is billed to begin in two weeks’ time, will be completed within eight months.
He said: “We have observed the level of progress and transformation in the Nigerian Army under the leadership of Lt. General T. Y Buratai, that is why we decided to key in by joining the Nigerian Army in building a reputing world-class polo facility which will cost us about half a billion Naira from start to finish.
“This is history-making. We have also invited other private sector payers as well as many Nigerian Banks who are also coming to partner with us. You know, Army is polo and polo is Army.
“I want to use this opportunity here to present the plan to the COAS who is represented by Major General Momoh.
“This is just the beginning as I have the belief that the Army will go round the country to build their legacies, especially in the games of polo.”
Also speaking, Mr Buratai, who was represented by Major General Momoh, commended the LCC for the gesture, hoping that the partnership would continue to flourish.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the bricklaying ceremony was attended by the State Minister for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo; the Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Halliru Dauda-Jika; and Guards Polo Club Chairman, Ambassador Sani Bala, among others.
