An aide to the governor of Nasarawa State, Alh. Yusuf Mada has been arrested by the Nigerian Police over vandalization of railway tracks and slippers in Lafia and Keana Local Government Areas of the state.
Mada who serves Governor Abdullahi A. Sule as special adviser on Infrastructural Development was arrested on Thursday alongside a Chinese national, Marra Thai of the Yong Xing Steel Company.
Other suspects arrested include Samuel Asoloko, a personnel of the Nigerian Legion; Inspr. Richard Joseph attached to State CID, Lafia; Sgt. Mali Peter attached to State CID, Lafia; Ibrahim Amegwa Usman - a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps attached to Arm Squad, NSCDC’s, Command Headquarters, Lafia.
The state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Bola Longe who paraded the suspects in Lafia at state police Headquarters explained that the suspects had been in the business of buying and selling railway tracks and slippers from other suspected vandals but luck ran out of them when the Police Command got informed of the criminal act and mobilized for their arrest.
CP Longe added that investigations revealed that vandalizing railway tracks/slippers is a grand conspiracy involving high net worth individuals who act as sponsors and drivers of various syndicates.
