MAAUN Commiserates With Zambia Over Death Of First President, Dr Kenneth Kaunda

The Management of Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN) has commiserated with the Government and entire people of Zambia over the demise of their first President, Dr Kenneth David Kaunda, who died at the age of 97.

Kauda died at a Military Hospital in Lusaka on Thursday, June 17, after a brief illness.

This is contained in a condolence message signed by the President and Founder of the University, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo and issued to newsmen in Kano on Saturday.

According to the statement, the death of Kauda was a great loss to people of Africa and Zambia in particular as they have lost a committed and patriotic leader who contributed alots towards the development of his country.

"President Kaunda was the first President of Zambia and a key figure in the country’s independence struggles whose contributions to the development of his country cannot be overemphasised.

"The President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo on behalf of the Management of the University wishes to extend his condolence to the family of the deceased, people of Zambia over the great loss of Dr Kenneth Kauda," the statement said.

Prof. Abubakar Gwarzo prayed for continuous peace, unity and stability as well as economic growth and development in Zambia and entire African Continent.
