The Management of Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN) conglomerate, has condoled with the Katsina state government and family of former minister of agriculture, Abba Sayyadi Ruma who died in London after a brief illness on Wednesday last week.
The condolence message was contained in a statement by the Founder and President of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo and issued to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.
Prof. Gwarzo described the death of the former minister as a great loss not only to his immediate family and friends but to the entire country.
Ruma was a Minister of Agriculture during the tenure of late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
He described the deceased as a gentleman who did his best as agric minister to transform the sector.
"On behalf of the entire staff and management of Maryam Abacha American University, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased as well as to the Katsina state government over the demise of the former Minister.
"May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and give his family the courage to bear the loss," he said in the statement.
Prof. Gwarzo, who is also the President of Association of Proprietors of Private Universities in Africa, prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannah Firdaus and his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The deceased, who died at the age of 69, had since been buried in accordance with the Islamic rite.
