Judge Adjourns El-Zakzaky’s Case Over Election Matters — Africa Daily News

The Presiding Judge, Hon. Justice I.E Ekwohas adjourned the hearing of a case filed by Islamic Movement leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky over pre-election matters.

According to the complaint’s legal team headed by Ishaq Adam Ishaq, Esq, “Sequel to the above matter that was slated for today, Tuesday 22th November, 2022, before Federal High Court 5 FCT Abuja, the Court has failed to preside over the matter even though it  is an enforcement of fundamental rights. Some other matters including that of fundamental rights were adjourned, and the counsel took another date.

“It appears that the Court gives priority to pre-election matters  over other matters. In the interest of justice, such action  is wrong, because pre-election Matters  political cases while Enforcement of Fundamental Rights borders on humanity. Thus, in a civilised society, humanity ought to be given priority at the expense of politics. An enforcement of fundamental right matter should not actually be delayed for what ever reason. This is indeed, unfortunate,” he lamented.

The judge fixed 6th February,2023 as a new date.

It would be recalled that the embattled leader of the Islamic Movement has dragged the Department of State Services to court over human rights violation.
