The immediate past governor of Gombe State Ibrahim Dankwambo has defeated the incumbent senator representing Gombe north Sa'idu Alkali in the senatorial election conducted in the state on Saturday.
Dankwambo of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) according to the returning officer for the election Professor Umaru Gurama scored a total of 143, 155 votes to defeat his closest opponent Alkali of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Our correspondent reports that senator Alkali has been representing Gombe north in the senate since 2011 and has lost his bid to return to the upper chamber of the national assembly for the fourth term now to the ex governor.
